Biden admin fears Israel-Hezbollah war after terror group rocket kills 12: report

The Biden administration is extremely worried Hezbollah’s rocket attack on Golan Heights Saturday that killed at least 12 and wounded dozens of others could “trigger” a full-scale war between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group, according to a report.

US officials are fretting that without a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas terrorists over the ongoing fighting in Gaza, a war between the Jewish state and Iran-backed Hezbollah is becoming more likely — which will fuel the regional crisis and drag the United States even further into the ongoing conflict, Axios reported.

“What happened today could be the trigger we have been worried about and tried to avoid for 10 months,” one American official told the outlet.

Hezbollah’s attack Saturday, which hit a soccer field in the northern Druze town of Majdal Shams, was the “most serious targeting” of Jewish civilians since Hamas’ savage Oct. 7 attack, Israel Defense Forces Rear Admr. Daniel Hagari said.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz raged that “Hezbollah crossed all red lines” with the murderous strike, which killed mostly children and young adults between the ages of 10 and 20.

Katz said the Jewish state was now “facing an all-out war” with the Lebanese terrorists.

The White House, which did not immediately issue a statement in response to the attack, has been concerned for months that Israel and Hezbollah could be headed for a full conflict after escalating rhetoric and saber-rattling.

Hezbollah had attached a large warhead to the rocket Saturday to hit back at Israel for a strike earlier in the day that killed four of the terror group’s militants, an Israeli official said.

Earlier this month, Hezbollah launched a barrage of 20 rockets that injured an American and Israeli civilian at a military post near the Zar’it community in northern Israel.

In mid-June, Israel broached the possibility of an “all-out war” with Hezbollah after the terror group published unnerving drone footage of the Jewish state, which showed military sites and residential cities tagged “highly populated.”
