In the ancient city of Aversa, Italy, on a practice field, Jim Davis handed freshman Ashton Jeanty a football with a simple objective: to prove he wouldn’t yield easily. When the snap came, Jeanty charged through the line and put the senior linebacker on the ground emphatically. This moment marked the start of Jeanty’s remarkable football journey.

Before becoming an early Heisman Trophy front-runner at Boise State, Jeanty began his athletic ascent in Italy, where his father was stationed at a U.S. Naval Support base. It was there, in a town famed for its mozzarella and wine, that Jeanty first showcased his undeniable talent.

In just the first two weeks of the 2024 season, Jeanty has dominated the stats, leading in rushing yards (459), touchdowns (9), and forced missed tackles (22). His stellar performances, including a 267-yard, six-touchdown game against Georgia Southern and a 192-yard, three-touchdown effort against Oregon, have solidified his status as a major talent.

Standing 5’9″ and weighing 215 pounds, Jeanty combines incredible strength—squatting 600 pounds—and agility, having been timed at 22.5 mph during games. He is ranked as the top running back prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft and is known for his relentless running style. From playing multiple positions at Lone Star High School in Texas to becoming Boise State’s star, Jeanty’s journey has been exceptional.

Moving to the U.S. in 2019, Jeanty’s senior year at Lone Star High School was outstanding. He accounted for 41 touchdowns and rushed for 1,843 yards. Despite his impressive stats, high-profile recruiting offers were limited. Boise State, however, saw his potential and offered him a spot. Jeanty wasted no time making an impact, racking up 821 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman, followed by a standout sophomore year with 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns.

In 2023, Boise State won the Mountain West Conference title, but they faced challenges, including the dismissal of their head coach. Despite numerous lucrative offers from other teams, Jeanty chose to stay loyal to Boise State, cementing his place in the program’s history. His decision was not just about money but about the community and values he found at Boise State.

Jeanty’s commitment to Boise State was rewarded with a new NIL deal, securing $300,000, housing, and a car. His loyalty and dedication are clear, and his future looks bright. As Boise State’s Heisman campaign for Jeanty kicks into high gear, the nation is taking notice of this extraordinary talent. Jeanty has already started the season with a Heisman pose and shows no signs of slowing down.
