Saudi Arabia has embarked on an architectural journey to redefine its skyline with what is expected to be the world’s most colossal structure, The Mukaab. Set in the bustling capital city of Riyadh, this $50 billion mega-project stands at the forefront of the nation’s transformative endeavors into futuristic construction.

The Mukaab, a monumental cube poised to rise 1,300 feet in height and stretch 1,200 feet across, promises a volumetric grandeur capable of encompassing 20 Empire State Buildings. Its impressive scale not only promises to carve a new downtown skyline but also to offer a self-sufficient urban experience within its walls, featuring fine dining, extensive retail space, offices, restaurants, and green spaces all accessible within a 15-minute walk from any point inside.

Residential plans for The Mukaab are equally expansive, set to include 104,000 residential units and 9,000 hotel rooms, transforming the cube into a vibrant community hub as well. Further enhancing its appeal, the development will integrate artificial intelligence to deliver immersive experiences akin to those of the Las Vegas sphere, with colossal screens enveloping the structure.

Drawing inspiration from the local ecology and traditional Najdi architecture, the project weaves the cultural heritage with modern design through its unique square structure and surrounding landscapes mimicking the natural wadis of the region. This integration symbolizes a bridge between Saudi Arabia’s rich past and its forward-looking ambitions.

Emblematic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s broader vision, The Mukaab’s development is a cornerstone of the “Saudi 2030 Vision,” which aims to diversify the economy away from oil dependency while enhancing public sectors and urban development. This initiative is paralleled by several other ambitious projects like the floating port city “Oxagon,” the mountainous “Trojena,” the fully renewable “NEOM,” and the sprawling, eco-friendly “THE LINE.”

With The Mukaab and its sister projects set for completion by 2030, Saudi Arabia is steadfastly steering towards a revolutionary future, promising to add over $51 billion to its non-oil GDP and create upwards of 334,000 jobs through these initiatives.
