The development of a biopic featuring Wim Hof, famously known as the “Iceman,” is currently on pause. The project, meant to cast actor Joseph Fiennes as Hof, has been halted due to fresh allegations of domestic violence brought forward by multiple family members, according to Genesius Pictures.
Over a period of 13 years, Hof’s former partner Caroline detailed a pattern of physical and verbal abuse towards her, their mutual son, and her children from a previous relationship. Caroline recounted her harrowing experiences to a media outlet, beginning with an incident in 2002 when she was pregnant. The abuse included physical assaults such as being slapped, dragged by the hair, and nearly kicked in the stomach.
Caroline’s children also suffered under Hof’s roof. Allegations from her daughter include being scalded with hot coffee and mental abuse, while her sons reported enduring multiple physical attacks. In one particularly severe incident in 2010, Hof supposedly threatened Caroline’s life and physically assaulted her sons, leading to his arrest and a subsequent restraining order.
Despite these grave accusations and corroborating reports from police and child protective services, Hof has denied all allegations, suggesting that they stem from personal grudges. His daughter from a previous relationship has spoken out in his defense, attributing manipulative behavior to Caroline.
Wim Hof earned global recognition for his record-breaking feats in extreme cold conditions and developed a widely known training program promoting the benefits of cold exposure, breathing exercises, and meditation. Nevertheless, his methods have drawn caution from health organizations and been linked to dangerous incidents, underscoring the controversy that surrounds his practices and personal life.
