Saquon Barkley had some advice for Daniel Jones after his Week 1 disaster.
The former Giants running back revealed he extended words of encouragement to his old quarterback following Big Blue’s 28-6 loss to the Vikings last weekend.
“I talked to him,” Barkley said. “He didn’t have the game that he wants … I just told him to play free and do what he does best.”
Daniel Jones struggled during the blowout loss, completing 22 of 42 passes for 186 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions, including a pick-six. The crowd at MetLife Stadium booed the $160 million quarterback during and after the game.
In the days following, Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard expressed some sympathy for Jones’ rough performance. “We kind of started to feel bad for him as we took away everything he wanted to do,” Greenard said on “The Power Trip Morning Show.”
In a stark contrast, former teammate Kyle Rudolph criticized Jones, saying, “The Daniel Jones I saw on Sunday is not the one who led them to the divisional round. His confidence looks destroyed. How can you blame him? Every time he goes out there, he’s fighting for his life.”
Barkley, meanwhile, shone brightly in his debut with the Eagles, scoring three touchdowns, totaling 109 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards on two catches, propelling Philadelphia to a 34-29 win over the Packers.
