Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy criticized the Kansas City Chiefs training staff as “unprofessional” after sustaining an eye injury during a Week 1 game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 5. Speaking on his podcast “McCoy & Van Noy,” he described experiencing a fractured orbital bone and having to wait an entire quarter in the locker room before being seen by the Chiefs’ medical team.
Van Noy expressed frustration at the delay and shared concerns about how the injury was handled, emphasizing the importance of timely medical attention for players. He recounted that the doctor who eventually assessed him appeared unprepared and noted that Chiefs players had rated their training staff poorly in recent NFLPA team report cards.
The Chiefs ranked 31st out of 32 teams in the NFLPA report, just before the Washington Commanders. In contrast, the Ravens’ training staff, which received a B-, ranked 15th.
Although Ravens head coach John Harbaugh hadn’t been directly informed about the incident, he maintained respect for all involved medical professionals and stood by Van Noy, highlighting his commitment and dedication as a player.
Van Noy, in his 11th NFL season, clarified that he didn’t seek a response from the Chiefs but conveyed his dissatisfaction with how the situation was managed. Post-incident, he opted not to discuss the matter further with reporters, and a Chiefs spokesperson declined to comment.
